Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA – 6% ABV

dfh-60-minuteDogfish Head (Milton, DE) has been around for a long time and considers themselves one of the big boys in the American craft beer industry. Their 60 Minute IPA is their number 1 selling beer and is a standard in all liquor stores and bars.

Their hops are brewed for 60 minutes, giving it a nice kick despite being very easy to drink. They use a variety of North American hops, leaving it well-balanced with a nice citrusy taste. Dogfish Head is a great beer to tailgate with or drink on the beach.

Flying Dog Doggie Style Pale Ale – 5.5% ABV

Product - Flying Dog Doggie Style Pale.previewFlying Dog (Frederick, MD) may boast some of the best beer labels in the beer industry. Their Doggie Style Pale Ale is their top-selling beer, and is considered to be a very solid pale ale.

A bit sweet as compared to other pale ales, Doggie Style has a grassier smell and citrusy taste. It also boasts a beautiful caramel color that makes it a great beer to look at after you pour it into a nice pint glass.

Neshaminy Creek County Line IPA – 6.6% ABV

Neshaminy-Creek-IPAOver on my personal beer blog I did a review of this new brewery out of Croydon, PA called Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company, who is celebrating their one-year anniversary this Sunday. I sampled three of their beers, and one of my favorites was their County Line IPA, a west-coast style IPA brewed here just north of Philly.

NCBC only bottles their beers in the 22 oz bomber style. County Line is priced very cheap compared to other bombers. As I wrote in the blog, “The brewer said it was made with Warrior, Chinook, Simcoe, Zythos, Centennial and Nugget hops. The Nugget gives it a west coast style.” It’s a great beer folks. Support local beer!

River Horse Hop Hazard – 6.5% ABV

beer-344River Horse (Lambertville, NJ) joins Flying Fish as the two New Jersey beers that we carry. River Horse’s hippo-themed beer labels are awesome to look at, but their beer is that much more awesome to drink.

Hop Hazard is brewed with Chinook, Centennial and Cascade hops, giving it a nice floral aroma and taste. Another fine, smooth American Pale Ale, River Horse is great to drink any time of the year, especially now as the weather gets warmer.

Stone Arrogant Bastard – 7.2 ABV

3730440421_6af2606351If I were to create a Top 5 beers for you guys, Arrogant Bastard Ale would be in my Top 5, hands down. Stone (Escondido, CA) is another one of the big boys in the industry as well, famous for their powerfully hopped IPAs. ABA is an American strong ale and it’s not for those with weak palates.

There’s a lot going in this complex brew, which is served in the 22 oz bomber style as well. Up front, there’s a lot of malt, caramel and spice. There’s also a distinct hint of mollasses, which gives it that darker taste and texture. It’s a dinner beer for sure. Enjoy with a man’s meal of red meat and potatoes.
